The essence of structural design is to shape each structure to respond effectively to the forces that it must withstand and the human activities that it nurtures. Thus students of architecture and engineering should be involved in the process of creating suitable structural form throughout their years of schooling, from their first fundamental lessons to the extended design projects of their advanced courses.
